An amazing experience with Mr Ravi IPS!

Image
Mr Ravi IPS is relieving from his service today. It must be a bit heartbreaking for him and many others like me also do feel the same as he feels. Though he is not directly familiar to me, I always have a huge respect for him. Because I have heard people speaking so high about him. And as a civil service aspirant, that too the one aspiring to become a Police officer, I always admired him. It was during 2017, my last civil services attempt, I cleared UPSC prelims, mains and got selected for the personality test. The government coaching centre for All India Civil Services Exam by the Tamil Nadu government usually conducts mock interviews for the aspirants, who gets selected for the personality test. Though it was my third personality test in UPSC, I never attended any mock interviews before. Since that was my last attempt, my mentor Ms Kumareswari of P.L.Raj IAS academy insisted me on attending a mock interview before moving to Delhi for the UPSC personality test. Until I stepped in the

My memorable moment as a mentor || Teachers Day

Image
I always have huge respect over teachers and mentors because I feel that profession is a divine thing after parents who can selflessly contribute to the welfare of their wards. The level of dedication and sincerity is unmatchable and they are the biggest influencers of many lives even beyond their parents at times. You may be a leading expert in your field but it is rock-tough to make your kid accept that “3+2=5” is also right when their teacher has taught that “2+3=5”. Your kid will easily turn your teaching down that you are wrong and only her/his teacher is right. That is the power of teaching and teachers. For the same reason, I never wanted to get into the teaching profession because I always doubted my capability of being so dedicated and sincere. After my mock interview for UPSC at the Govt coaching center, I got an offer to mentor civil service candidates. Initially, I was so hesitant because it is easy to understand concepts and score high marks but damn hard to teach the same

One day! Just one day is the difference between winners and losers || UPSC titbits

The results of Civil Services Examination 2019 has been published and the media has already started creating its usual row with the popular taglines “Visually challenged women has challenged her fellow students by clearing IAS”, “Son of a daily waged laborer has cleared the toughest exam of the country”, “Daughter of a farmer who doesn’t even have electricity facility has become the light of inspiration to her village”, etc. This post is not against those aspirants who have really worked hard to attain the prestigious post of the country. It is against those critics who easily comment on the aspirants who have not been successful, for not putting enough efforts, without even knowing what the exam is all about. Source: DTNext I am in this field for the past 17 years, have seen all ups and downs, and has faced a lot of such criticisms. Out of that experience, I would like to share a few incidents to clarify all those criticisms. The competitive exams are conducted nation-wide and every

Yoga scores a bit more in fitness || International Yoga Day

Image
International Yoga Day is being celebrated on 21 June since 2015 after the recognition by the United Nations. So on this day, I would like to share my experience which I went through in the few days of my yoga journey. I have been into both Yoga and Gym, somewhere I have a feel that Yoga score a little bit more than the gym workouts. It was during my last attempt at the civil services exam when I joined Yoga for loss of weight. Rohini Manoharan , a charming young lady with a beautiful smile always on her face was my instructor. The positive vibes she possessed were the real catalyst during our yoga sessions and that is where I realized that getting a proper guru is the foremost thing in the Yoga. Completely Natural Yoga has its origin in our very own land India which is a boon provided by the great guru Patanjali . Now yoga has reached every nuke and corner of the world and to our wonder, it is practiced more by others than us. All you need to do yoga is a piece of pure cloth or yoga

Sushanth Singh Rajput - What the sad ending teaches us

Image
I know that discussing or debating about someone’s death is not quite okay. But Sushanth Singh Rajput’s decision of suicide has a lot to teach this society. We keep running behind money, fame, power, etc but Sushanth has broken the myth that these materialistic things can not give you happiness or satisfaction. Life is something beyond these things that everyone should understand and learn to value. After the sad ending of Sushanth, we can see many untold stories bringing the grey part of Bollywood to the limelight. The jargon ‘Nepotism’ is being discussed widely which is being blamed to have shackled the Bollywood and is the very reason for the death of Sushanth. Nepotism is when popular personalities of any field try to form a web of their close affinities and neglect outsiders. This ends up in a kind of oligarchy where the opportunities will be shared among this network while the outsiders will be denied of all chances even though they may be well deserving. The same thing is allege

Does the passion for dance can make a girl characterless?

Image
Stereotypes are common in society with gender inequality. But its high time to break all those taboos. One such taboo is labeling a girl as characterless for dancing in the public. Seems weird? But to the dismay, it is a sad reality even now. My father is a champion in breaking such taboos. He brought me up without any gender restrictions. From my childhood, my passion is dance and my father encouraged me by all possible means.  He never posed restrictions except for one, that is he either wanted me to be the central lead and not to be a side dancer. Haha, a father is always a father. From standard one to till my college days I never missed stage performance. During my ninth standard, I took part in a dance drama on Silapathikaaram portraying the role of Kovalan which is the most favorite to my father. The scene where Kovalan will be taken to the guillotine is the one cherished by the audience and my father who was the chief guest of the function was so proud. As a remembrance, my fath

Hardships I faced in UPSC interview and the actual failure || Motivation

Image
At times situations and circumstances push you to the verge of failure and even to the extent of changing your fate upside down. The same thing I experienced in the year 2009. It was during the latter half of February when I was eagerly waiting for the results of the UPSC Mains examination, the second important stage of my life ambition. That was my second proper Mains and the previous year I scored low marks in Mains due to which I lost the attempt even after being selected for the personality test. So this time I was very ambitious to get through the examination and prepared hard for the Mains exam. I was confident enough so that was eagerly awaiting the result. But fate was different and I lost my father which broke my mental strength into billion pieces. I had to move to my native to perform the funeral, and that is when the results were announced. I have cleared the examination but was so blank and was not able to realize anything happening around me. I had to stay back for furthe
