Yoga scores a bit more in fitness || International Yoga Day

International Yoga Day is being celebrated on 21 June since 2015 after the recognition by the United Nations. So on this day, I would like to share my experience which I went through in the few days of my yoga journey. I have been into both Yoga and Gym, somewhere I have a feel that Yoga score a little bit more than the gym workouts. It was during my last attempt at the civil services exam when I joined Yoga for loss of weight. Rohini Manoharan, a charming young lady with a beautiful smile always on her face was my instructor. The positive vibes she possessed were the real catalyst during our yoga sessions and that is where I realized that getting a proper guru is the foremost thing in the Yoga.

Completely Natural

Yoga has its origin in our very own land India which is a boon provided by the great guru Patanjali. Now yoga has reached every nuke and corner of the world and to our wonder, it is practiced more by others than us. All you need to do yoga is a piece of pure cloth or yoga mat because the asanas are completely performed on the floor and it does not need any pieces of equipment or accessories that we generally use in the gym. This creates a sense of naturality where we may feel a sort of artificiality in the gym workouts. At times I have felt that certain postures can never be done by me and have feared of bone coming out piercing the flesh. It was my instructor who motivated me and made me do those poses. Once done I used to be at the peaks of the joy and it really gained me a lot of confidence.

Simple Diet

When I first saw the diet chart given in our gym I literally believed that either I am going to die in a few days or am going to be driven crazy and eat double the usual quantity out of craving and will put on more weight. But after heavy research, I was successful in customizing my own diet chart and escaped from compromising with my taste buds. This problem was not there in the yoga where I was allowed to take homemade food in a limited quantity with a small suggestion of replacing rice and wheat with regional millets. Personally, I believe that homemade foods are the best diet but when cooked healthy and taken in the proper quantity. In yoga, they never suggest supplements as suggested in a few gyms and I have a very strong feeling against that stuff.

Pleasance and calmness

The environments of both yoga and gym are totally opposite. Since gym includes heavy workouts and is more aggressive of nature only tracks with fast beats are played. It is really fun but the divine peace we obtain in the serene mild music played during yoga will be missing in the gym. Also, we prefer AC gyms with artificial fragrance while yoga is done in a freshly ventilated atmosphere energizing our oxygen levels. After a heavy sweating session when finally your instructor instructs you to perform the Shavasana is the best feeling ever. And the final touch is when we offer a salute to nature, guru, and mind praying for good thoughts and deeds and welfare of the society is so classic which has no spot in the gym workout.

Final words about Yoga is you tend to lose weight very gradually when compared to the gym but the same happens in gaining weight as you stop practicing. Be it yoga or gym, the master control is in the diet which is the main key to maintain your fitness. A well-planned, proper, and balanced food style is the best and easiest fitness method where you have to drink the food and chew the water. Stay fit. Stay healthy. Stay confident.
