Sushanth Singh Rajput - What the sad ending teaches us
I know that discussing or debating about someone’s death is not quite okay. But Sushanth Singh Rajput’s decision of suicide has a lot to teach this society. We keep running behind money, fame, power, etc but Sushanth has broken the myth that these materialistic things can not give you happiness or satisfaction. Life is something beyond these things that everyone should understand and learn to value.
After the sad ending of Sushanth, we can see many untold stories bringing the grey part of Bollywood to the limelight. The jargon ‘Nepotism’ is being discussed widely which is being blamed to have shackled the Bollywood and is the very reason for the death of Sushanth. Nepotism is when popular personalities of any field try to form a web of their close affinities and neglect outsiders. This ends up in a kind of oligarchy where the opportunities will be shared among this network while the outsiders will be denied of all chances even though they may be well deserving.
The same thing is alleged to have happened to Sushanth when Bollywood biggies followed nepotism with celebrity kids and ignored outsiders or newcomers like Sushanth. Many videos are rolling down in social media showcasing how Sushanth was insulted in the name of fun culture and how he was ignored in celebrity parties thus refusing to recognize him. Finally, the film opportunities he bagged was washed away from his hands and offered to celebrity kids made him depressed. Fuelling the fire was done by certain media and altogether collectively pushed him to this kind of mental state.
Bollywood is not the only field showing Nepotism. Even other film industries like Kollywood, Tollywood, etc have this in default but the intensity may be lesser or unknown to us. Nepotism does not restrict itself with the film industry but is seen in every field right from politics. It is not that bad when it supports the upcoming of their affinities but becomes brutal when seizing the opportunities of others and destroying one’s career and at times the lives. But this will not change and the story of Sushanth is just talk of the town for time being and will be forgotten as days passes.
But what we have to learn from his ending is more important. Firstly, people should understand that dream or ambition is just a part of life and is not life completely. When we tend to face difficulties we should be courageous enough to withstand it and when we have to face failures we should be determined enough to repeat trying. At a point when we understand that this is not our cup of tea, we should be bold enough to choose a new ambition and pursue it. This is where Sushanth, the National Olympiad winner in Physics and a top rank holder in Engineering entrance examinations failed to understand.
The next thing we should understand is real wealth is not money or fame but at least one pure soul who can not only cherish our success but support us in bouncing back from our failures. That one person to whom we can open our heart is the most valuable thing in our life which sadly Sushanth did not possess, otherwise, he would have not chosen this ending. He did not think about the people who love him but gave more importance to the people who did not give a damn about him and this is the mistake done by most of us. Just stay around the people who respect you and snap off the people who do not care for you.
Lastly, I would like to convey a dialogue from a movie, that is We have the entire world to win but we have nothing to lose. This is one favorite mantra I follow in my life. Hardships and difficulties are common to all at their levels and everyone has two choices. Either fight against it or choose something else in which we can score well. Ending one’s life is not a solution.
