Spreading smiles to strangers is real happiness||Touching incident

During my childhood, I came across a quote that ‘Smile is contagious, so keep spreading’. Don’t know why but I got an instant belief on that quote and even have tested it many times of late and found it to be true. Usually, such incidents make me feel excited but the recent experience of its kind made me feel so touching and emotional. I would like to share that experience in this blog.

It was on last July, I and my junior besties planned for a continuous four days hangout in Chennai and on the last day of that exciting trip we visited the heritage village Dakshina Chitra, situated in the East Coast Road, 25 km away from Chennai. After cherishing the Dravidian lifestyles, we decided to leave a bit earlier fearing the evening traffic of Chennai. We sat for our snacks and coffee in a nearby restaurant and as we searched for the cab we realized that there are no cabs available at that time. We tried for autos but they were expensive but as time passed on we decided to take a running auto back to our place.

Luckily we found an auto coming our way, but it was a bit crazy to fetch an auto for such a long distance. Basically, I love traveling in autos which I had shared in one of my previous articles ( https://prabharandomthoughts.blogspot.com/2020/07/chennai-diaries.html ) and my besties too were crazy enough to agree to it but as the driver said that his previous ride was from Chennai to Mahabalipuram and he is on his return ride we were quite convinced to take up the long journey, the charges were reasonable too. It was a long trip that lasted up to 3 - 3 ½ hours, thanks to the Chennai traffic.

Since it was the last day of our exciting hangout plan, we three were hyper-thrilled and started discussing the memorable moments of the past four days. We were at the peaks of joy and failed to realize that the auto driver was also present there. We did not even mind that he is listening to our conversations and we were in the waves of laughter all over the ride. As we entered the main city, I slightly had a doubt that whether we have annoyed him and later came to know that even my besties had the same doubt. But still, we could not hide our happiness, so continued with it.

What we had in our mind was that this may be the last time we are seeing him so even if he is irritated, it is in no way going to matter to us. But as we got down from the auto, the driver stopped us to say something. We were expecting something but what he said was really touching. He lost his kid just ten days back and was struggling to get out of that sorrow. Just two days back he has returned to his profession. He said that hearing to our conversations and seeing our happiness, he felt relieved from his depression. Also asked us to stay like this forever and departed with a smile on his face.

This is the real power of pure joy and smiles which can create wonders among living things. He could have left without uttering anything but the impact was so real and deep that he made sure to convey it to us. We three felt that our plan was really successful with this incident. So stay happy, keep smiling because you may never know when and where it can sway its magic wand and fill the place with positive vibes.
