Negatives of hitting a gym || Fun facts

Image
In the previous article, I shared my experience of positive gains we acquire through gymming. But apart from losing a few pounds of weight, there are a few other things we gonna lose. Let me list out them which are really a serious issue. First and foremost is the sympathy that people going to show on you on losing your weight. It is the same set of folks who would have given you a thousand pieces of advice on shredding out the extra flesh. When you proudly turn up in front of them after a quiet transformation expecting praises and applauses, all is what you are going to get is their pity. When the same happened to me I was really confused about whether to continue my workouts or to quit abruptly. People will really make you feel as if you have ended up as a pauper starving for food. But later we realized that it is not the pity what they are showing but in reality they were jealous of our transformation. It may sound overconfident but the majority’s behavior has raised this thought. O

Make fitness your lifestyle

Basically am a foodie means my physique used to be hefty to which I never turned my focus since I was not worried about it much because my height saved me from looking abnormal. Eventually, I developed problems like joint pain and lethargicness and started feeling lazy even to do my daily routine. Even then I was not cautious about my fitness. Last year one of my juniors wanted to join a gym and we started our search for a good one. One of my neighbors suggested a gym that was recently opened in our area. We went for inquiry and found the gym atmosphere to be fine but my junior was a bit hesitant in joining it alone. The gym was just a few buildings away from my house so just a thought sprang in my mind to join along with her just to accompany her and shred a few kgs of fat. When I joined the gym, to be honest, I did not have any target in my mind because still, fitness was not my pick. And more importantly, I was very particular in not taking a personal trainer to coach me fearing of

Why "From Volga to Ganga" is a must read

After my graduation, I started my civil services preparation to achieve my life ambition. It consisted of three stages - Preliminary which is of MCQ type, Mains being descriptive type and personality test being the last stage. So for Preliminary and Mains examination, it was mandatory to select two subjects as optional. Twenty plus subjects were listed out along with the unit portions so that it will be easier for the candidates to select their desired subjects. I was from an engineering background but computer science which was my major was not available. So I preferred to select from an Arts background. As I went through the units of various subjects one optional seemed to be so interesting, that is Sociology. The units were about human relationship patterns and societal setups which seemed to be so familiar and easier to learn for a fresher like me. Not only that but I always had an interest in the evolution of man and society. This basic interest also attracted to me towards Sociol

My wish to become a polyglot

Image
Polyglot is a person who knows or uses multiple languages other than one’s mother tongue. Also known as multilingual. If asked about small wishes to be fulfilled then everyone will make a list. Even I have such a list. One among them is to become a polyglot. This wish bloomed in my heart during my school days when I came across a short story during my preparation for LPCET for Hindi. The story starts in the backdrop of Court of Akbar where the Sultan is sitting on his throne and in front of him is assembled his favorite Navratnas - abled Ministers of Akbar. The court proceeding starts where various scholars exhibit their talent and receive prizes from the Sultan. Then comes a scholar who introduces himself as a polyglot and showcases his proficiency in numerous languages. The Sultan gets amazed and offers him a huge prize. Here comes the twist when the scholar turns down the prize and instead poses a challenge to everyone present in the court. The challenge is to

My fascination for Shiva's Trilogy

Starting from Mesopotamia, the world has witnessed many major civilizations putting humans who were nomads and hunters-gatherers once into an ordered and settled lifestyle. Every tradition has its own folk stories to spread the values of their evolved culture from generation to generation. And these stories had always been mythological with superhuman traits so that the people find a zealous inspiration and follow them without objecting much. As far as I know, the great epics of India - Ramayana, and Mahabharatha cannot be matched by any grand text of the world. Both include a complex network of characters with unique characterizations, morals stuck with each character and incident, prescribing both Dos n Don’ts in one’s life, clearly explaining the cause and effect of every happening, etc. I always found them so fascinating and educating and this fascination originated during my 6th standard which made me complete these epics by then itself. The same fonding always dr

Birthday in lockdown

Image
Birthdays are really important to me. The importance I give to a person can be valued from how much I remember that person’s birthday. I feel birthdays are so special because none of us know whether we had a previous birth or we are going to have the next birth. Only this birth is all we have to live.  When a child makes its genesis in the womb of its mother it is showered one and only with love and affection from entire kin and folks. When the child leaves the safest place that is the womb of its mother and starts breathing its fresh air in this world the first thing it experiences is only love and affection. It may be you family or any stranger the children are always showered with kindness. So everyone who enters the world receives affection first and other emotions later. It means that we all have only affection at our beginning days to share and nothing else. That is why I feel the day on which everyone received and was ready to share one and only love m
