Birthday in lockdown
Birthdays are really important to me. The importance I give to a person can be valued from how much I remember that person’s birthday. I feel birthdays are so special because none of us know whether we had a previous birth or we are going to have the next birth. Only this birth is all we have to live.
When a child makes its genesis in the womb of its mother it is showered one and only with love and affection from entire kin and folks. When the child leaves the safest place that is the womb of its mother and starts breathing its fresh air in this world the first thing it experiences is only love and affection. It may be you family or any stranger the children are always showered with kindness.
So everyone who enters the world receives affection first and other emotions later. It means that we all have only affection at our beginning days to share and nothing else. That is why I feel the day on which everyone received and was ready to share one and only love must be cherished always. If I think about other’s birthday up to this extent then there is no need to say how much would I celebrate mine.
My style of celebration includes wearing a new dress, receiving blessings from parents and almighty, have a grand feast of my favorite menu including chicken, cake, chocolates, and ice cream, and to watch a movie if possible. But what I value most is the wishes of the dear ones. I am fond of making friends and the most lovable thing is to be socialized with the people surrounding me.
In the recent past, people got stuck with their busy schedules that they did not even find themselves free enough to call and wish. Being a person who remembers and wishes everyone on their special days I always have some sort of expectation of receiving calls from the dear ones. In the fast running life with an easy medium called social media, I received only template wishes. Not to offend anyone.
My birthday falls on May 5th. Thanks to COVID-19 I would say. My birthday was during the lockdown. This is the first-ever birthday without a new dress, could not visit the temple, non-availability of chicken, cake, and chocolates, and definitely no theatre. But to my amusement, I received a lot of calls and was busy the whole day talking to friends. I know this pandemic had made our lives worse still, there are some exciting things also to be cherished and enjoyed. I hope this tough period has brought many distant hearts and souls together.
