When a stranger spreads a smile on Ur face || Amusing incident

In one of my previous articles Spreading smiles to strangers is real happiness I have shared an incident where our gang’s happiness was able to spread a smile in the face of a stranger and helped him in coming out from the agony of losing his kid. At times the vice versa too happens wherein the strangers spread a smile on your face by a very small act but it means a lot for you and makes you very happy. I am going to share such an incident in this blog.

Last year I got an opportunity to mentor the civil service students of a charity academy established by a college in Perambur, Chennai, especially for the female candidates. It included 20 - 25 minutes of traveling from my place. I always have a habit of taking either bar chocolates or choco drinks after every session which is of 2 hours of exhaustive talking. Usually, I use to buy them from nearby shops. Since this academy and its location are new I did not have any clue regarding the shops nearby.

After the first day session when I reached the bus stop I found a small cafe nearby and went to buy chocolates. A lady was present at the cafe. My first preference is always Dairy milk and when I enquired whether they have Dairy milk the lady said no. With a bit disappointed I started listing out the names of other bar chocolates and the lady’s face went dark, so I stopped and asked her what happened. She hesitantly replied that no one from that nearby area buys bar chocolates so they possess only small candies.

My eyebrows went up listening to it and then I took a deep breath and asked her to give me four candies thinking that they may equalize bar chocolate. Every weekend I had classes there and the above said scene got repeated every time. I did not want to carry the chocolates from my place fearing that it may melt. I got settled down with the four candies but the naughty side of myself always made me enquire about Dairy milk chocolates to the lady and when she feels sorry for not having them I use to smile and chill her that I just asked for fun.

Suddenly one week I just smiled mischievously and asked “Do you have Dairy milk?” the lady’s face turned super-bright and she replied with a big “Yes”. I was shocked and asked whether the people of that area started buying it, she replied that they bought it exclusively for me because every time when she was made to reply no to me a sense of guilt was developed in her it seems. I was so amused to hear that and felt thankful to her for being so thoughtful. It may look like a business but apart from that the happiness I saw in her face while giving me my favorite piece of chocolate without saying ‘No’ was priceless.

I thought of capturing that awesome feeling so asked for a picture by my side, she was readily happy and posed. I clicked a picture with her and added that incident into the array of sweet moments in my memory. Keep spreading a smile to others because that is the only best way to keep yourself happy always.
