Hitler's Mein Kampf || My excerpts

When we hear the word ‘Dictator’ a very few names will jump into our minds and one important name among those is Adolf Hitler. His autobiography ‘Mein Kampf’ is one of the best sellers which came in two volumes, the first one in 1925 when he was imprisoned and the second one was published in 1927. Originally written in German but was translated into almost 11 languages.

The first volume is titled ‘A reckoning’ where he talks about his childhood and the initial period of his ideological development. The second volume is titled ‘National social movement’ talks about how his ideals got shaped into a party. If one goes through these volumes will find out that Hitler focusses only on a few aspects and he keeps on repeating them in different ways. Maybe it is due to his lack of clarity in expressing his thoughts in a contained way or maybe intentionally done to push his ideas into the minds of the reader, which is known only to Hitler.

Ultra Nationalism

The first and foremost thing he focusses is on nationalism. Hitler portrays himself as ultra-nationalist feeling extremely proud of Germany. He believes in the expansion of his nation and justifies conquering areas where German-speaking people reside as a duty to the nation. He distinguishes between real nationalism and customized nationalism. The real nationalism is being patriotic towards the fatherland keeping it above all while customized nationalism is being loyal to the government than to the country.

Racial Affinity

Hitler considers the Aryan race to be the superior one among all races and extremely hates the Jews quoting them as mere parasites sucking out all valuables produced by the intelligence of the Aryans. Ethnocentrism is common among many but what Hitler practiced is beyond that. To be particular his antisemitic views are racist in nature as he labels them to be with completely negative qualities and he also believes that it to be ascriptive in nature. This strong viewpoint later pushed him to establish concentration camps and commit massive genocide thus writing the history with blood.

Anti-Marxism

Hitler’s ultranationalist nature and belief in racial supremacy made him stand against the communal values of Karl Marx. He disbelieved both monarchy and social-democratic government because he thought the former concentrated on individual authority and power while the latter focussed on the economy but both failed to keep up the pride of the country. Especially he was not happy with the outcomes of the first world war followed by Germany’s collapse. He was even ready to handshake with England which is a potential rival just to outshow his hatred towards France.

Nazism

Hitler was influenced by Benito Mussolini of Italy and his Fascist ideals, from which he got his inspiration for his brainchild Nazism. Nazism to be simply explained is Nationalist Socialism. He was neither happy with monarchy nor with the social-democratic government. So he intended to create a new regime with totally new principles and the outcome is the National Socialist Party later turned Nazi party.

Apart from the above major ideals Hitler also believed in armed forces as the best methodology to materialize his ideology. He always insisted on the need for students to learn gymnastics along with education. He was totally against the media because most of the media houses were run by the jews and so he believed them to be not reliable. Hitler is portrayed as a negative character always but after reading Mein Kampf I realized that to excel in being extremely negative also requires a lot of positive qualities.

Hitler stood firm in whatever ideals he believed and never settled down for a compromise. His nationalism showed his extreme patriotism. He hated people who start up everything but end up doing nothing because he was not the man of words but action. He quotes that a half heart decays from inner and collapses from outer thus iterating that whatever is done should be done with 100% determination. And his determination level was at peaks because when circumstances demanded him a compromise for the sake of his role model Mussolini, Hitler did not bend towards it and he even went surpassing the leader he adored. So for me, Hitler is a negative package comprising full of positive qualities and this makes him stand unique in his own way.
