When a stranger spreads a smile on Ur face || Amusing incident

Image
In one of my previous articles Spreading smiles to strangers is real happiness I have shared an incident where our gang’s happiness was able to spread a smile in the face of a stranger and helped him in coming out from the agony of losing his kid. At times the vice versa too happens wherein the strangers spread a smile on your face by a very small act but it means a lot for you and makes you very happy. I am going to share such an incident in this blog.                                               Last year I got an opportunity to mentor the civil service students of a charity academy established by a college in Perambur, Chennai, especially for the female candidates. It included 20 - 25 minutes of traveling from my place. I always have a habit of taking either bar chocolates or choco drinks after every session which is of 2 hours of exhaustive talking. Usually, I use to buy them from nearby shops. Since this academy and its location are new I did not have any clue regarding the sho

Periyarism traits that I saw in my father

My father was an ardent follower of Periyar from whom I have visualized a few ideologies of Periyar which I was able to correlate in my later years after learning about Periyar. Every year on September 17th, the birth anniversary of Periyar, my father never forgets to offer his respect. I was amused to know that when my father was the students’ secretary during his college days, they used to invite Periyar as their chief guest. This personal contact with Periyar is due to the admiration my father had on his speeches and ideologies which I saw reflecting in my father’s life. I would like to share a few such incidents. The very name Periyar was given to E.V.Ramasamy by the Neelambikai Ammaiyar, daughter of Maraimalai Adigal, as a token of appreciation for raising his voice in support of the freedom of women. When I was born my mother and grandmother were not happy of me being a female child because they were expecting a boy and even my mother neglected to take me in her hands, it was my

I always have huge respect over teachers and mentors because I feel that profession is a divine thing after parents who can selflessly contribute to the welfare of their wards. The level of dedication and sincerity is unmatchable and they are the biggest influencers of many lives even beyond their parents at times. You may be a leading expert in your field but it is rock-tough to make your kid accept that “3+2=5” is also right when their teacher has taught that “2+3=5”. Your kid will easily turn your teaching down that you are wrong and only her/his teacher is right. That is the power of teaching and teachers. For the same reason, I never wanted to get into the teaching profession because I always doubted my capability of being so dedicated and sincere. After my mock interview for UPSC at the Govt coaching center, I got an offer to mentor civil service candidates. Initially, I was so hesitant because it is easy to understand concepts and score high marks but damn hard to teach the same
